Writing:
John August – As you can see from John’s credits, he has a lot of screenwriting working knowledge and shares it freely on his frequently updated blog.
Wordplay – Terry Rossio and Ted Elliot are truly ahead of the curve when it comes to working screenwriters giving advice to aspiring ones as they started this site back in ’97. Even though the site isn’t updated anymore, there is a ton of valuable information that I re-read regularly.
The Artful Writer – Craig Mazin’s site is geared toward the working screenwriter however there is a ton of useful information for anyone interested in the field.
Screenwriter’s Utopia – Interviews, articles and various resources for screenwriters.
Film Business:
Done Deal – I check this site daily to see what type of scripts are selling and to whom however the production company and agent/manager lists, interviews, columns, Hollywhooped and various links provide a vast amount of useful information for screenwriters and filmmakers.
indieWire – If you’re not on their daily email list, you should be.
IMDB News – In addition to providing a database of almost everyone working in film, their news section is updated daily with the Studio Briefing and WENN (entertainment news) with a complete archives section.
Box Office Numbers – This site provides box office data on films in addition to supplying a film’s budget when available.

Mandy.com – One of the best resources when it comes to finding a crew for a shoot or on the flip side, freelance film people trying to find a shoot that needs crew.
DGA – Director’s Guild of America
WGA – Writer’s Guild of America
SAG – Screen Actor’s Guild
NYC Mayor’s office of Film, TV and Theatre – Resource for shooting in New York City.
Mark Litwak’s Entertainment Law Resource – The best entertainment/filmmaking law website I’ve been able to find. Mark’s articles on financing, distribution and copyright protection are a must read if you’re looking to produce your own project.
Hollywood Momentum – If you’ve ever been on a low rung of the entertainment industry ladder, you’ll be able to relate to this site… Ah, the memories.
